Fall is just around the corner, which means the leaves will soon be changing color and the temperature will be dropping. With the weather getting wetter and cooler, it can be tricky to find family games everyone can enjoy without getting a cold.
The good news is, we've compiled some fun family games for fall you and your family can enjoy on these upcoming cool, cloudy days. Check them out below.
Pumpkin hunts
There's nothing that says fall quite like pumpkins. Fortunately, you don't need to get out your pumpkin-carving tools to use this seasonal veggie in your family activities.
Movement gets your brain going, and so an active body makes for an active brain. Consider hiding small pumpkins around your yard or in a designated park. This gives your kids a chance to run around and exercise while also participating in hands-on learning and developing their memory.
The best part about this activity is that you can play it indoors too. If you don't like the idea of using small pumpkins in your house in case one of them is squashed, you can use a pumpkin plush instead.
Fall-related puzzles
Puzzles are a great rainy day activity for all ages because there are easy puzzles for toddlers and moderately difficult puzzles for teens and parents. Consider getting a big jigsaw puzzle that's fall-themed or smaller, 300 piece puzzles.
Puzzles are great for your kids' development because they activate our brains while relaxing us psychologically. That means working on a puzzle can actually put our brains into a meditative state.
Indoor bowling
Bowling can get expensive as a regular family activity and the weather isn't always great to bowl with toys outside. The good news is you don't need to have bowling pins and a heavy ball to play indoor bowling.
Take empty soda bottles and water bottles from your home's recycling bin and set them up as pins. Use a soft, but still-rollable ball as the bowling ball. This way your family can play indoor bowling without worrying about anything getting broken in case a roll gets too enthusiastic.
It can be tricky to find family games that are great for everyone when the weather isn't so nice outside. Don't be afraid to get creative and make up your own fall-related games using what's around you.
